Yachtie transferring to Singapore
Posted September 19th, 2009 by watchkeeperHi all,
I'm transferring from Dubai to a new post in Singapore/Batam but based and living on Batam. I have a 85ft modern classic style ketch that I will be shipping down in the new year for my sometimes live aboard and local dive/sailing cruising.
My previous sailing experience has been Aegean solo or crewing in NZ, Australian and PNG waters, none at all in the SE Asia region.
Any advice or heads up on things to be aware of, good and bad areas and be awares with local port authorities etc would be much appreciated.
I have an extensive background as superyacht project manager/engineer on new builds, refits and conversions so if anyone needs assistance,
crack a flare.

Boat yards or Marinas in Malaysia near Singapore
Posted August 19th, 2009 by SoloHello,
From the Noonsite Malaysia page:
"There are several small boatyards, often with their own slips, on both coasts of the peninsula but as they are used to working on local craft, standards are not high."
I am looking for a boatyard or marina where I can leave my 31 foot boat for 5 months, mid-September to mid-February. I am looking for a place where I can leave the boat "on the hard" or as they call it over there; dry storage or dry birthing. Hope to find a place around Singapore but in Malaysia.
Any ideas?

dinghy forum - technical or tactical
Posted July 29th, 2007 by terencesailingIm trying to start a forum on technical or tactical situations in dinghy sailing. Feel free to ask any qns or post any information you may deem helpful to our younger and upcoming sailors. Hopefully this website would spark a healthy debate amongst dedicated athletes that wish to spur themselves onward. Cheers and all the best!
Think of getting a Power Pleasure Craft Driving License(PPCDL)?
Posted July 18th, 2007 by NautinstAhoy there!
Have you ever dreamed of driving your own boat? How about being a skipper? or even a Captain?
Then you might be interested in this PPCDL course. This course allows you to drive any power-driven boat that has a license plate beginning with SZ or SZH, which most of the small and medium sized boats require.
